Former India cricketer comes in support of Rahul Gandhi and his hug to PM Modi

It was a moment of some controversy when Indian national congress President Rahul Gandhi rushed down to the opposite corner and hugged PM Narendra Modi after completing his “No Confidence Motion” speech in the Lok Sabha on Friday. Political pundits and journalists had their own opinion, some thought that it would benefit Congress in 2019 elections and some thought this was a well planned drama that didn’t favoured the Congress.

Gandhi completed his 45 minute long speech and went to opposite corner of Lok Sabha to hug the Prime Minister. Whole of the lower house was amazed by this gesture and even PM Modi could not understand it for a while.

Rahul went to his seat thereafter and winked at his party colleagues – Jyotiraditya Scindia and KC Venugopal. On returning to his seat, Rahul said: “The meaning of being Hindu is to embrace the whole world. The whole world may abuse you, call you Pappu, but you should have love in your heart. This is the history and the future of this country.”

The move may have drawn many criticism but former India cricketer Vinod Kambli came in support of Congress, he praised Rahul Gandhi for this gesture.

“#NoConfidenceMotion. @RahulGandhi. What an inning played by you, Rahul Gandhi. You really spoke your heart out there. What a wonderful sight, you hugged Modi Ji. You ended it with Dignity!,” Kambli tweeted.

Kambli who debuted in Politics in 2009 fought from Vikhroli on Lok Bharti Party seat and lost the elections.

Was this a move to draw attention of the Congress and return to politics or a just an opinion from Kambli. Only time will tell.
