The build to the upcoming cricket world cup has allready started with all the 10 participating teams making sure that they get the right combination before the start of the marquee event. The world cup will get underway from May 30 and will continue till July 14.
England are the firm favourites to lift the trophy, however some experts claim India to be a force to reckon with alongside Pakistan, who will be high in confidence after triumph in 2017 champions trophy in English conditions.
Andy Flower predicts the winner
Meanwhile Zimbabwe’s greatest ever batsman Andy Flower has donned the prediction hat and predicted that India are the firm favourites to lift the title for the third time. Flower feels the men in blue play aggressive cricket and their fan following in England makes them a contender for the title.
“Without a doubt, they (India) are serious contenders. They play good aggressive cricket and they will have a good following in the World Cup. It may be held in England. But we know their matches will have a lot of Indian supporters and they won’t feel like being away from home. And India has a good record playing in tournaments in the past.” Flower told Sportstar.
Flower also feels that Indian cricket is more confident now due to the growing stature of the country when it comes to global economy. He also added that Indian Premier League(IPL) has given more confidence to the youngsters to perform in front of the packed house and share dressing room alongside International stars after which playing for the country does not become a big deal for them.
