2- Delhi Capitals
The Delhi based franchise got an astronomical boost after they changed their name to Delhi Capitals from Delhi Daredevils. The Shreyas Iyer led team has never won a single IPL trophy but were the heavyweights in the reign of Virender Sehwag and Kevin Pietersen in the starting seasons of the tournament.
The team has failed to reach the playoffs since 2013 and this may be their best chance to break the jinx. Their bowling line-up consists some of the big names like Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult and Ishant Sharma, who will spearhead the pace attack. Impactful spinners like Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane can turn the complexion of the game on their very own. Overall they have got all their basics covered when it comes to bowling department.
The franchise boast of some talented batsman like skipper Shreyas Iyer, Colin Munro, Prithvi Shaw, Colin Ingram and hard hitting Rishabh Pant. The franchise traded Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad which will strengthen their batting line-up and added a specialist opener in the mix.
All-rounders like Axar Patel, Chris Morris and Hanuma Vihari will bring the right balance to the team. The presence of world’s most influential captains of their time- Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting as the coaching staff will give an added advantage to the team and specially the youngsters.
