(Photo source: Daikin Twitter handle): Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the captain of Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2018. The franchise revealed the news in a media event on Wednesday. He was bought by the Daredevils for Rs. 2.80 crore in the auctions which were held in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28.

Gautam Gambhir will be in his second assignment with the Delhi Daredevils after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the 2018 IPL auction. Gambhir had joined KKR in 2011 and went on to lead them to Indian Premier League titles in 2012 and 2014.
Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua, made the news official at an event on Wednesday. “Happy to announce @GautamGambhir as our @DelhiDaredevils Captain for 2018 and beyond … He left us as a #Captain and come back as our #Captain … #VivoIPL #IPL #DilDilli,” he tweeted.

The southpaw has played a 148 matches in the IPL and scored 4132 runs at an average of 31.78 with 35 half-centuries to his name.
