All the teams have allready started preparing for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. This tournament will be on England’s soil, and not much time is left for cricket’s biggest extravaganza to kick-start. However, former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath predicted the winner of Cricket World Cup 2019. He said neither the number one team India nor my team Australia will reign this time. He believes that England will become the world champions in 2019. McGrath said, “By seeing the way England is playing at the present, i can say that they can win the 2019 World Cup next year. The Joe Root led side has won 19 of the last 22 ODI games. If the team keeps performing similarly, then no one can stop them from winning next year’s World Cup,”
England’s performance is quite good in ODIs this year. England has recently become the first team to beat Australia by 4-1 in the one-day series. The kangaroos have never faced such a humilating defeat on their home soil. McGrath further said, “The 2019 World Cup is to be played in England and in that sense the team will get stronger on its own. The England team has made tremendous changes in ODI cricket and the team is playing the best cricket so far. If the English players continues their form till next year, undoubtedly the most prominent contender of the World Cup will be their team. No team will be able to stop them to lift the World Cup in 2019.
Glenn McGrath‘s prediction may not be neglected as India played at their own backyard in 2011 and lifted the world cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Australia repeated the same story in 2015 when they lifted the World cup which was played on their soil. Considering the home advantage, England may be the favorites to bank on their home advantage in 2019.
