Spin bowling has been taken to a new level with the impact of leg-spinners on the game. Its worth mentioning that almost every top cricket team in the world currently has a leg-spinner in their team which creates a great difference. The likes of Rashid Khan, Samuel Badree, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Yasir Shah have played an influential role for their team but it may prove tough to choose the best spinner amongst them.
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has stepped forward and opined that Kuldeep Yadav will be the number one spinner in future.
“Kuldeep has shown glimpses of what he can do on a first-day wicket. He is slower in the air and gets the ball to turn both ways. Going forward, he should be India’s key and deciding factor. He will be the No.1 spinner in future,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by IANS.
Harbhajan also defended Kuldeep for his poor run in England test series. The Kanpur born bowler got a chance to play in the second test at Lords where he leaked runs and returned wicket-less on a wicket that offered nothing for a spinner.
“In England, the conditions were seaming and the day he bowled, it was the coldest day in summer. So, for a wrist spinner, it is very difficult. He could not do the things he wanted. He has time and again proved his credentials and the team depends a lot on him and will in the future,” he added.
