The build to the upcoming cricket world cup has allready started with all the 10 participating teams making sure that they get the right combination before the start of the marquee event. The world cup will get underway from May 30 and will continue till July 14.
England are the firm favourites to lift the trophy, however some experts claim India to be a force to reckon with alongside Pakistan, who will be high in confidence after triumph in 2017 champions trophy in English conditions.
ICC chief David Richardson predicts the winner
Richardson who is from South Africa backed his home country to finally break the jinx and lift the title for the first time ever. The Proteas have never reached the final of the world cup, having failed to make a mark when it matters the most despite the history of fielding a strong side in world cup.
Richardson also noted that hosts England are the number one side in the world currently and they will be another favourites to lift the world cup. He opined if Eoin Morgan’s men can’t win the trophy in 2019, they will never win it in future.
“South Africa must be my favourites but if you ask me who can win it then it is anybody’s game. If England do not win at home, the No 1 team in the world right now, they’ll never win it,”Richardson told India today.

The ICC chief agreed to the threat posed by Indian team in the ICC tournaments. He said that the men in blue have been consistently reaching the knockout stages and they will again be a force to reckon with.
“India is always there, I think they’ve been in the semifinals of almost every event over the last few years. You would be silly not to bet or you would be silly to bet against them,” he said.
Richardson further went onto say that 50 over cricket is the most favourite format which is reflected by the huge sale of tickets for the 2019 world cup.
