Former India cricketer and present minister of tourism from Punjab- Navjot Singh Sidhu has faced the heat after he went to the oath taking ceremony of Imran Khan in August on the same day when former India Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was cremated. It was Vajpayee who brought Sidhu to politics as a candidate of Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP).

Sidhu hugged Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa which added fuel to the fire but his positive talks for the Kartarpur corridor made him a hero amongst some people in the country.

He re-visited Pakistan again to thank his friend and Prime Minister Imran Khan for the historic step. Khan spoke about the criticism faced by Sidhu and said that he has no idea why Sidhu was criticized despite talking about peace between the two countries.

Sidhu will win the election in Pakistan’s Punjab says Imran Khan

“I heard there was a lot of criticism of Sidhu when he went back after my oath-taking ceremony. I don’t know why was he criticised. He was just talking about peace and brotherhood. He can come and contest election here in Pakistan’s Punjab, he’ll win,” Khan said.

Sidhu thanked Imran for doing what couldn’t be done in 71 years

Sidhu said that the approval of Kartarpur corridor will bring peace between the two rival nations and thanked Khan for the historic step.

“The Kartarpur Spirit can make pilgrims of us all, venturing out on a journey that breaks the barriers of history and opens the borders of the heart and the mind. A journey that our people can walk together towards, a future of shared peace and prosperity for India and Pakistan,” Sidhu said ahead of the ceremony.
