The opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024 proved to be a ground breaking event. This is the first time when the opening ceremony is not scheduled in a stadium but instead on the Seine River, which flows through the heart of Paris. This innovative approach aims to bring the sporting competition into the city and make it more accessible to a larger audience. The flag bearers and the contingent were aboard a boat in the opening ceremony.

The ceremony featured a 6-kilometer parade of athletes along the Seine river, with contingent travelling on boats equipped with cameras to provide close-up views for television and online viewers. The parade started at the Pont d’Austerlitz and ended at the Trocadero, passing by iconic landmarks such as Notre-Dame de Paris, the Louvre, and the Pont des Arts.

The ceremony was designed to synchronize with the natural light of the setting sun, creating a unique and poetic atmosphere during the ceremony. Paris Olympic games opener was surely the biggest opening ceremony in history with focus on accessibility to all and more openness.
