Ahmedabad pitch curators faced the wrath of many former cricketers and cricket experts fom preparing a spin friendly pitch where the 3rd test match between India and England lasted for close to 2 days. England won the toss but only scored 193 runs in total of the two innings. India were bundled out for 145 runs in the first innings in the historic day-night test in Ahmedabad but still managed to eke out a 10 wickets victory.
Many experts asked ICC to take action on the Ahmedabad pitch and also rate it on a low scale. However, England team didn’t complain officially which means that no strict actions can be taken.
BCCI will not want to take any chance and keeping the criticism in mind, they are likely to give slightly different pitch in the fourth Test. The pitch of the final Test is likely to be batsmen-friendly. Media reports suggest that black soil will be used instead of red soil and the pitch will be kept slightly solid so that it will have bounce on it.
A senior official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who is aware of the matter, said on condition of anonymity, “A good pitch is expected which will be solid and there will be a similar bounce. It will be batting friendly and it will be a traditional red ball test match, so a much bigger score can be expected here from March 4 to 8.
The official noted that another dusty pitch will not be not good for the Narendra Modi stadium as the venue may host important matches of IPL and T20 world cup.
The fourth test match between India and England is scheduled from 4-8 March in Ahmedabad and a draw or a win will ensure that the Virat Kohli led team reach the finals of world test championship.
