England finished at 423/8 at the end of second day’s play at Leeds and the hosts lead by 345 runs to put India on the backfoot. India were bowled out for 78 runs on the first day and England batsman didn’t do any mistake to grab the opportunity with both hands. Opening pair was a big headache for England from past few years but Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns put up a 135 runs stand for the first wicket to put India on backfoot. Every top order batsman for the hosts contributed which added to the misery of the visiting team.
Joe Root scored yet another brilliant hundred to put England in a consolidating position. Ishant Sharma looked totally off colour for India and he was the weakest link for the India bowling line-up but contributions from Mohammed Shami(3 wickets), Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja(2 wickets each), Jasprit Bumrah(1 wicket) kept some hope alive for India.
India is certainly on the backfoot and a miraculous performance can only save the test for them from here on. Twitter Universe was buzzing after India’s below par performance on day 2 and here’s how they reacted with memes and their tweets.
