Rishabh Pant is often criticized for his irresponsible shots which don’t favour the situation but his same fearless approach wins the game for India and Gabba test win against Australia in 2020 was an example but his unbeaten 125* against England in the ODI series decider at Manchester will go down as one of his best innings in 50 overs cricket.
Chasing a target of 260 runs, India lost four wickets in just 72 runs and in came Hardik Pandya who joined Pant. Both the batsman played watchfully but then went all guns blazing to put India into the driver’s seat. Both the batsman played aggressively and paved way for India’s victory in series decided. Pandya got out but Rishabh Pant continued the firepower and completed his maiden ODI century. He didn’t stop from here on and played some magnificent shots to power India to a 5 wickets victory. This was also India’s third ODI series victory in England and it was all the efforts of “entertainer” Rishabh Pant who saw the team home.

“Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that .. something I aspire to do. I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation. The more you play the more experience you gain. Nothing to take away from the bowlers, it was a good wicket to bat on and the bowlers did a commendable job to restrict them, they were brilliant not only today but for the entire series,” Pant said.
