Indian captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri found themselves on the receiving end as fans bashed them for participating in the book launch event at London which would have possibly became a reason for the Covid outbreak in the Indian team’s camp. Its worth mentioning that Ravi Shastri tested Covid positive on the 4th day of Oval test and had been quarantined since then. Another member of Indian support staff tested positive on Thursday but the member of Indian team returned with a negative RT-PCR results on Thursday.
England Cricket Board confirmed that India will not be able to field a team in the last test at Manchester following the Covid outbreak in the team. Fans were vocal against Shastri who attended the book launch event with skipper Kohli last week and returned Covid positive alongside bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar while team physio Nitin Patel has been kept in isolation. Virat Kohli luckily managed to escape the Covid fear but fans were not amused and bashed him after it was curtains on the final test in a series which stood 2-1 in India’s favour and promised a great climax. Here are few reactions-
This Shastri book launch event in the middle of the series is not being talked enough. How irresponsible of them to host and attend such a crowded event where people from outside the bubble were also present. pic.twitter.com/afL0etetcU

The Ravi Shastri book launch is going to get a fair bit of scrutiny I think. On the one hand, idiotic for players & staff to mingle w public w/o any precautions. But on the other, there wasn’t a strict biosecure environment. No rules strictly broken. ??♀️ #ENGvIND

BCCI official (to IANS) said, “One mistake can make things difficult for everybody. Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli went out for a book launch and here we are seeing Covid cases within the team. This is scary.”#ENGvIND

@BCCI should be finned and fired Ravi shastri asap. He and some members of the team were roaming around as if they were on vacation.
We want no excuse at all. #ManchesterTest pic.twitter.com/yEvFoXfvVV— JSK (@theUnethical1) September 10, 2021
Ravi Shastri-Virat Kohli should be questioned harshly by @BCCI with the book launch in UK when ECB didn’t acquire clearance.
Its clearly a breach. Shastri and other support staff were found COVID +ve later
