The first match of the five match t20 series between New Zealand and India was played on Friday at the Eden Park ground in Auckland. Batting first after losing the toss, New Zealand set a mammoth 204-run target in front of India, thanks to the fiery innings of Colin Munro(59 off 42 balls), Kane Williamson(51 off 26 balls) and late flourish by Ross Taylor(54 off 27 balls). Jasprit Bumrah(1/31) was the pick of the Indian bowling.
In response, the Indian team chased down the target with one to spare. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli kept the run rate at check after the men in blue lost Rohit Sharma(7 off 6 balls) early. Rahul scored 56 while skipper Kohli scored 45 runs. In the end, Shreyas Iyer’s stormy 29-ball 58 run innings made life difficult of the Kiwi bowlers as he took India to victory with ease.
