IND vs SA: Pitch invader runs to touch Rohit Sharma's feet, here's what happened next

Pitch invasion has become a common deed on the cricket field and the latest one happened in the ongoing second test between India and South Africa at Maharashtra cricket association stadium in Pune. The incident happened in the 45th over of the Proteas innings where Ravindra Jadeja was bowling.

Jadeja got rid off Senuran Muthusamy after which Vernon Philander came to the crease. It was then that a supporter ducked the security and reached the ground. He ran towards the slip cordon where Rohit Sharma was standing. He tried to touch the feet of Rohit and seek the blessings but the security intervened and took him away. Captain Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja saw the funnier side of the incident but former India great Sunil Gavaskar was not much amused by the incident.

Gavaskar lashed out at the security and said that its their responsibility to stop the pitch invaders and they are not here to watch the free match.

“Security not there to watch the match for free. This is a perennial problem in India. It’s a serious security issue. Not just a question of a fan going to meet a cricketer. They have to make sure nobody enters the ground. Anything could happen. Why take a chance? It’s not easy to get inside the field. So, what are they (security) doing?” Gavaskar said during the commentary.
