India announces 15-man squad for T20 series against Australia, key batsmen return

KL Rahul was re-called to the team sighting his form for India A team that played against England Lions as BCCI announced 15-man India squad for T20 series against Australia. Rahul’s inclusion in the team may be a clear indication that selectors are keeping him in the plans for the world cup.

Rookie spinner Mayank Markande was given his maiden T20 call-up in the national team as the Punjab leggie managed to impress in the four day game against England Lions. He is also part of the IPL team Mumbai Indians.

Ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was rested for the T20 series after he played every limited overs game of Australasia tour. Umesh Yadav who managed to impress in the Ranji trophy semi-finals against Kerela was recalled into the T20 team and it will be interesting to see if he gets a game. Kanpur spinner Kuldeep Yadav was also rested from the team.

Skipper Virat Kohli is back after the much needed rest and will continue to lead the team alongside his deputy Rohit Sharma.

India will play two T20’s and five ODI’s against Australia which will also be their last cricket assignment before 2019 world cup before they head onto play the IPL next month.
