England have dethrone India to reach the top spot in the ICC ODI team rankings following the annual update. England’s rise up the table because 2014-15 season has been dropped from the latest calculations, and England won only seven out of 25 ODIs against other Full Members in this period.
England gained eight points and moves to the top spot with 125 points. India, who were at the top before the update, have lost lone point and are in second place with a total of 122 points, just three points behind England.
South Africa, who were second, have dropped down to third place after losing four points, and now stand with 113 points, New Zealand stands at 4th position with 112 points.
The other spots have been unchanged but there have been a compelling change in the points.
World champions Australia have lost eight points to go down to 104 in fifth position, following them are Champions trophy holders Pakistan with 102 points at 6th spot.
Bangladesh (93 points) have gained three points and consolidate their position at 7th, Sri Lanka (77) have lost seven points to go unchange at 8th, the West Indies (69) have lost five points to be at 9th spot. Another emerging Asian giant Afghanistan (63) have gained five points to be at 10th, followed by Zimbabwe at 11th with 55 points.
In the T20I rankings led by Pakistan, there is no change in the top seven places but in a rare outcome Afghanistan are now ahead of Sri Lanka in eighth slot.
Pakistan (130) and Australia (126) remain in the first two positions without a change in their points total while India have gained two points to reach 123. New Zealand (116) are unchanged on points while England (115) have gained a solitary point.
