In the quest of finding next Athletic star from India.
The Athletics Federation of India (#AFI) selected the Indian team for 2nd Asian Youth Athletics Championship to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 20-23 May 2017.
It could well be a proving ground for these highly talented athletes from around the country to perform at world level ,considering India’s poor run in athletics from last 3 decades or so . However athletes like Vikas Gowda (Discuss) and Tintu Luka(Track event) have shown little positive points, but they have failed to impress in the Olympic where it all matters.
If we closely look at the selected athletes we wont see much of Punjab or Kerala dominating the proceedings as these 2 states are rich in producing some of the champion athletes pastly , but its good that there is a mix of athletes from many states and indicates the rise of athletics sports in other states of India as well.
India would be looking to get some impressive athletes amongst these young talents who can perform consistently at world stage and we can get some new Flying Sikhs or Udan Pari fame. Platform like this will certainly give optimum exposure to these youngsters who look to get their name in the history books in the coming years.
