Cricket Australia has announced the 14-member Australia squad for the starting two test matches against India. The much hyped test series starts December 6 in Adelaide.
The selectors rewarded Victorian batsman Marcus Harris for the consistent run in domestic cricket and called him in the team. Harris is the highest run getter in the ongoing Harris Shield trophy and it will be interesting to see if the opening batsman can trouble India if he is given his debut test cap on December 6.
“Marcus Harris has forced his way into the squad after an impressive start to the Sheffield Shield campaign for Victoria, and in recent times has performed in high-pressure matches, including Sheffield Shield finals. Not only has he made plenty of runs, he’s displayed the mental application we believe is required to compete at Test cricket.” said national selector Trevor Hohns on the selection of Marcus Harris.
Wicket-keeper batsman Tim Paine was named the skipper of the team. While limited overs skipper Aaron Finch was also included in the squad.
The pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins will be accompanied by the experienced Peter Siddle and Chris Tremain.
Nathan Lyon is the only specialist spinner in the Australian squad.
