India vs Australia: Three key players ruled out of the second test

The BCCI has announced the 13 member India squad for the second test starting in Perth from tomorrow. Team suffered a huge injury blow as Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw have been ruled out of the second test.

Prithvi Shaw’s injury update

The young Mumbai batsman suffered an ankle injury during the practise match against Cricket Australia XI and since then he has not recovered completely. There were news that Shaw was spotted walking after the first test but that is still not enough for him to be match fit. He is expected to return for the boxing day test match, starting 26th December.

Rohit Sharma’s injury update

The Mumbai batsman scored 37 runs in the first innings of first test but threw his wicket away, playing a rash shot of Nathan Lyon’s bowling. He could not make a mark in the second innings, perishing on just one run. He was set to be given another chance in the second test but before that he has not recovered from the minor back injury which he sustained while fielding in the first test. Andhra skipper Hanuma Vihari is expected to take his place in the team.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s injury update

The Chennai all-rounder was the most valuable player for the visitors in the first test. He picked 6 wickets in the test and contributed some valuable runs down the order in the first innings. His injury comes as a huge blow for India as his role could have been crucial in Perth. He suffered a abdominal strain on his left side which he incurred during the first test match. Saurashtra all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is expected to take his place in the team.
