In a shocking move, England pacer Sam Curran was dropped from the England squad from the third test who will make way for Ben Stokes. The 27-year-old all-rounder missed the second Test because of court hearing.
“It’s probably the toughest call I’ve had to make as Test captain,” skipper Joe Root told BBC Sport.
“Ben is a proven performer for us for a long period of time and he also played exceptionally well at Edgbaston. He’s in a really good place to go out and play for England.”
Twitter was not too entertained with the ousted of Sam Curran from the third test, who was the man of the match of the first test at Edgbaston.
Best chance for Sam Curran to get his place back for the 4th Test is probably going out and drowning his sorrows. #ENGvIND

Ridiculous decision to drop Sam Curran. Man of the match two Tests ago, has not put a foot wrong. Gutted for him.
If anyone had to go, it should have been Jos ‘still hasn’t scored a Test century’ Buttler. #bbcsport— Andrew Lewin (@Alewin7) August 17, 2018
That’s bloody harsh on Sam Curran. Sends out the wrong message.

Sam Curran out. Ben Stokes in. “Keep your head down, work hard, seize your opportunity, win a test for your country, get dropped for a guy who flattened two blokes in a brawl outside a nightclub at two in the morning”. That England team ethos in full.

I hope Virat Kohli puts Ben stokes away in the next test, sam Curran hasn’t put a foot wrong and gets dropped for a bloke who beats up gay fellas, can’t see any sense in that decision

Got to feel for Sam Curran, MOM, vital runs wickets and dropped. Great to have stokesy back, selectors nightmare. But surely a way round this? Interesting selections! But a strong England
