In the U19 cricket, India and Pakistan have not played each other from four years and now when they face each other, the battle will be for reaching the finals of the ongoing Under 19 world cup. In the Youth Asia cup last year, India denied to play against Pakistan in group stage and points were awarded to Pakistan. However, in the ICC events India will be forced to play against Pakistan and certainly when there is a fight for place in the finals.
Pakistan finished at the top spot in group D and faced South Africa in the quarter final, who finished second in group A. Ali Zaryab’s second straight half-century made way for Pakistan into the semi-finals of the Under-19 World Cup, with a three-wicket win against South Africa in Christchurch. Chasing 190, Pakistan were wobbling at 111 for 5 before Zaryab scored an unbeaten and patient 74 off 111 balls to see his side through.
India on the other hand, topped group B to set a clash with Bangladesh, who finished second in group C. Prithvi Shaw led Indian team registered a dominating 131-run win over Bangladesh in the quarter-final to set a clash of India vs Pakistan clash in U19 World Cup 2018. After posting a competitive total of 265, India bowled out Bangladesh for 134 in 42.1 overs with Kamlesh Nagarkoti being the pick of bowlers, taking three for 18. India will play Pakistan in the mouth watering semi final on 30th January in Christchurch in the second semi final.
