A dominant Indian team outclassed West Indies to win the match by 9 wickets and claim the series 3-1 at Greenfield stadium in Trivandrum. The local crowd was certainly not happy with the match that lasted for just over three hours and thirty minutes. This was the second International match at the venue and the first International match played at the venue was a T20 match between India and New Zealand which was cut short by 7 overs per team, thanks to the drizzling rain.

Match reports

Earlier in the day, Windies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and chose to bat first with a big score in mind to level the series. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah had some other plans as they routed the Windies openers cheaply. Rovman Powell and experienced Marlon Samuels tried to bring back the innings on track and added 34 runs for third wicket partnership.

Skipper Virat Kohli introduced Ravindra Jadeja into the attack and the Saurashtra all-rounder removed Samuels(24) and the danger man Shimron Hetmyer (9).

Windies batsman could not find the right momentum in the innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah went through the lower order as the visiting team was bundled out on 104 runs in just 31.5 overs.

Indian innings

With minimal runs to chase, Shikhar Dhawan could not make the most of the scenario and got out cheaply on 6 runs. After the fall of first wicket, it was just Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who added 99 runs for the 2nd wicket partnership and took India to a dominant victory with 35.1 overs to spare.
