Mumbai pace-man Shardul Thakur’s test debut didn’t went the way he wanted to as he was ruled out of the second test against West Indies following a groin strain. He could just bowl 10 deliveries in the match before he was sidelined to the dressing room.
After bowling the fourth delivery of the fourth over to Kieran Powell, Shardul was seen in considerable pain as he started hobbling. Indian team’s physio Patrick Farhart came into the picture as he gave some medical attention to Thakur. The physio talked to the captain and then took the Mumbai cricketer to the dressing room. Ravinchandran Ashwin completed the last two deliveries of the over as India were left with four bowlers on the field.
“Shardul Thakur has gone for scans. He will not take the field today. An update on his participation for the rest of the Test will be taken after looking at the scans and after being assessed by the team management,” read the official statement from BCCI.
Shardul picked the injury during India’s opening encounter against Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2018. He suffered a right hip and groin soreness after the match which ruled him out of the tournament. He later went onto shine with his all-round abilities for Mumbai in Vijay Hazare trophy which made his way back into the test team.
