Indian batsmen will hold key to success in the five-Test series against England: Ganguly

Former captain Sourav Ganguly feels Indian batsmen will hold key to success in the upcoming five-Test series against England.

“You have to score 400 runs in an innings in Test cricket in order to be competitive. If they get 400 runs in the first innings, they will win,” Ganguly told reporters at Eden Gardens.

England who market test cricket on a good term have not won the past three test series. They have only registered a win against Pakistan to draw the series 1-1 after getting hammered in the first test at Lords.

“India will have a chance. They are a good side, if they bat well, they will do well in England. They can win the test series. India have got a big chance of winning.”

Dhoni was speculated to retire after he took the match ball in the third ODI from the match officials. He was criticized for his slow paced innings in the 2nd and 3rd ODI which India lost in a comprehensive fashion.

“I am sure he will get back to scoring runs. Whatever he does, it’s his decision,” he said
