Indian bowlers now hold the record of first ever hat-trick in ODI and Test World Cup

Hanuma Vihari put India in a commanding position after he notched up his maiden International ton to help India score 416 runs in the second test against West Indies in Jamaica. The hosts had a mammoth task in their hands but they fail to impress. Jasprit Bumrah destroyed the top order as the men in maroon were struggling at 22/5 at one stage.

Bumrah started the proceedings for India after he dismissed John Campbell but a historic feat was due for him. At 13/1, Bumrah came to bowl the 9th over of the innings, which proved decisive for the Indian team. He picked the wickets of Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks and Roston Chase to claim a match turning hatrick and register his name in history.

India has recorded a special achievement in the history of world cricket after Bumrah’s historic feat. Now the record of taking the first hat-trick of one-day cricket World Cup and World Cup of Test cricket has been recorded in the name of Indian bowlers.

Talking of one-day cricket World Cup, the record of taking the first hat-trick is in the name of an Indian. In 1987, Chetan Sharma claimed this record against New Zealand. This was the fourth edition of the World Cup which was played in India. In the 24th match played at Nagpur, Sharma dismissed Ken Rutherford, Ian Smith and Ave Chatfield and claimed the first hat-trick in 50 over World Cup history. The match was won by India by 9 wickets.
