In the first set of rankings published in the calendar year, the Blue Tigers move three places up from the December 2017 rankings. They were earlier placed at 105th position. A growth of 13 points now sees India having accumulated 333 rating points on 102nd spot.
India managed 13 points in the last one month for a total of 333 points. The Sunil Chhetri led side remained unbeaten in 2017. They have won seven of their nine matches while two ended in draws. India had also qualified for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Iran is the highest ranked Asian team and 34th in the world, while India is ranked 14th in Asia and finds itself at 102nd spot in world. Maldives at 150th are the next-best South Asian side with Nepal at 165th. Bhutan find themselves at at 188th, Bangladesh at 197th. Sri Lanka consolidated their position at 200th position with the suspended Pakistan at 201.

Team India also broke into Top 100 last year in May for the first time in 21 years when they were placed at the 100th spot along with Nicaragua, Lithuania and Estonia.
