Golf is considered a post retirement sports in India but still the nation has seen the likes of Jeev Milkha Singh and Anirban Lahiri heroics at the PGA tours. Some younger talents like Aditi Ashok have also emerged who have represented India at the #Rio2016. Despite of some good golfers in the country ,the biggest question that arise ” Is India really lacking good golfers ” or “Golf is just a post retirement sports in India” to target the questions we bring you a conversation with Delhi based golfer named “Prashant Singhroha” who clears the question about Golf in India.  Indian Golf | Golf in India

 

Question : I see so many youngsters who turn around to play the sports. Despite of so much of population why India is not producing high quality golfers?

Prashant : India is producing enough golf champions it’s just most of them only wish to play in India and Asia Circuit. The PGA tour is tough to qualify and so much competition is there. The climate is different. The greens speed is different.

Question : Is Indian Golf lacking growth ??

Prashant : No. In India golf has grown a lot in recent times but u can’t compare with America. They have 15000 golf courses in the country. Compared to India with 500-600 approx golfers. You can find a bunch of Indians participating at the Asian tours.

Question : So do you think its failure of infrastructure in India for golf ??

Prashant : Infrastructure is there. It’s just for many it’s still an old man or retirement game. It’s just different lifestyle altogether. Those who play, knows that any age person can play the game.

Question : Do you think technology plays a role ?

Prashant : Of course technology is really advanced with simulator analysing of golf swing in USA. But it’s slowly coming to India too,which will benefit the Golfers to greatest extent.
