Sports is certainly a fantasy that youth wanna target as their prime career option all over the globe. Though Indian parents don’t fancy sports as a career for their little ones. Here are 3 reasons why they deny sports as a career.
1. Not a permanent finance option
Indian parents are obsessed with daily schedule of office hours from 10 am to 5 pm. Whatever you get , they are happy with it . On the other hand sports is not like daily work to deal with , they think that its a part time job that has an expiry date and would work for you till you are young , after that there would be no source of income .

What can be done to change the ideology of parents
Sports authorities, government and sponsors have raised enormous funds for the players, yes we can play till age does not becomes a barrier…but still can start a business by the debts we earned in our playing career and even can give sports coaching and earn a healthy amount. If government can make any law of giving pension plans and optimum job opportunities to retired player then we might change the thinking of our parents.
2. Because Sharma ji’s son is an IITian or PMTian, that’s why we also have to be.
Indian parents are too obsessed with IIT and PMT. They just want their ward to be a good engineer or doctor. But mind you, if everyone will be a doctor then who will be the patient ?? Everyone can’t be a topper, every child have their own set of dreams. Its a cruel reality to say but parents should not throw their dreams to their little ones, there are so many things to choose as a profession including sports, we should not detain the dreams of our kids.
3. Lack of government structures and politics in selection committees .
Parents think that politics comes in between the selection of players and only financially stabled are selected by giving bribe despite of less or nil skills on field, in this case they are not wrong.

The sports department should construct sports centre at district level with a national player of each sports in the selection committee, that conducts trials at districts levels and pick the best talent who should be sent to the national academies of their respective sports. Government should also have a close eye on the picked talents, they should be nurtured and the charge of national selection should be granted to former players and not any elected politician. If sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, implements this idea then surity of changing the ideology of our parents will be possible and this country of billions will also start producing more gold medalists at Olympics or other International levels.
