For the first time in the Bangladesh Test series in November, a day-night test can be organized with pink ball. According to a leading news agency, this could be discussed between BCCI’s new chairman Sourav Ganguly and captain Virat Kohli.
The new chairman Ganguly has always favored the day-night test matches which can bring more excitement to the longest format of the game and help filling the stadiums. However, the former captain does not want to impose his point of view on the captain and the team and has left the decision to them.
Bangladesh team will tour India in November where they have to play a two-Test series under the World Test Championship. Both teams will play the first Test in Indore from November 14 and the second Test in Kolkata from November 22. Although no major decision has been taken yet on the day-night test, but there is a 50 percent expectation that one of the two Test matches can be played with pink ball.
Before becoming BCCI President, Ganguly started the day-night test in domestic cricket when he was the President of Bengal Cricket Association.
Its worth mentioning that New Zealand and Australia played the first ever day/night test or floodlight test in 2015, where Australia emerged victorious by 3 wickets. India got the first taste of day night test during the 2017 duleep trophy tournament which was played at newly build Ekana International stadium in Lucknow.
