The selection committee led by MSK Prasad announced Indian ODI squad for the upcoming West Indies series that starts in December. It was speculated that Rohit Sharma would be rested for the series but the selectors insisted to play the full strength team. Virat Kohli will continue to lead the team in the limited overs format.
The main highlight of the team was the inclusion of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who will return to action after India’s tour of West Indies, which was scheduled after the 2019 world cup. The pair of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav was called back to the team after a long gap.
The selectors again trusted Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer to take the middle order slot. KL Rahul will again be another option to try out in the middle order.
The selectors sidelined Khaleel Ahmed from both T20 and ODI squad after dismal show against South Africa and Bangladesh. The surprise entrant to the ODI squad was the inclusion of Shivam Dube, who has proved his mettle in the limited overs format. The selectors are seeing him as a replacement for injured Hardik Pandya who is out of action from a long time.
