The fans were eager to know the schedule for the upcoming IPL season after the conclusion of player auction for season 12. However, BCCI was waiting for the final confirmation of the schedule of general elections to decide on the schedule for IPL 12. The cricket’s governing then decided to announce the schedule on Monday(3 February, 2019) but they delayed the much hyped announcement for certain reasons.
BCCI is reportedly working with election commission and other authorities for the confirmation of lok sabha elections. The schedule is expected to be announced in a week time from now.
“We’re working closely with the Election Commission and all the authorities concerned and hopefully it will be out in a week,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by the Mumbai Mirror.
In the 2009 general elections, the whole tournament was contested in South Africa where Deccan Chargers led by Adam Gilchrist were crowned champions. In the 2014 general elections, half of the tournament was held in United Arab Emirates before moving to India for rest half.
Its worth mentioning that BCCI has decided to contest the tournament in 2019 despite Lok Sabha elections.
