PL 2020: RCB becomes the first team to include a woman in their team

The 13th edition of world’s most money makingT20 league ‘Indian Premier League’ will see a major change. This change will be seen in the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Virat Kohli. The Challengers will be the first team in the history of IPL where a woman will join a team as a support staff. The RCB team has appointed Navnita Gautam as a sports massage therapist for the franchise. With this, RCB’s team will become the first team to hire a women’s staff league.

Gautam will work closely with Head Physiotherapist Ewan Speechly and Strength and Conditioning Coach Shankar Basu for any type of situations. She will be responsible for team preparation, motivation, overall supervision and performance of specialized techniques related to all personal physical illnesses.

On the appointment, RCB President Sanjeev Churiwala said, “I am very pleased to be a part of this moment in history and another step in the right direction. The game has come a long way, in many ways, in terms of the women’s cricket team and how many people are watching it, the interest was long due.

“Sport is a great enabler, but it is important to ensure that the principles of equity in participation also extends to its staffing bodies. Increasing participation and success by women in all sporting arenas have made this possible and we at RCB are very thrilled to have found great talent in Navnita.
