IPL 2021: CSK hints at replacing MS Dhoni with N Jagadeesan

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been a matter of concern for the Chennai Super Kings as the skipper has failed to pack a punch with the bat and his leadership skills are also been questioned after CSK failed to qualify for the play-offs for the very first time in the last season in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The veteran glovesman scored just 200 runs in 14 matches last year, which didn’t help the cause of the team in yellow.

The veteran from Ranchi ensured the fans last year that he will be returning back for another season of IPL but in the very first match against Delhi Capitals, he didn’t trouble the scorers and was dismissed on a duck by Avesh Khan. Meanwhile, the Chennai based franchise has possibly hinted for a change in their Instagram post.

In an Instagram post, Super Kings uploaded a picture of batting coach and Mr. Cricket- Michael Hussey with wicket-keeper batsman Narayan Jagadeesan. The Tamil Nadu lad is the second keeper in the team and he has to warm the bench from the 2018 season given that Dhoni is the primary keeper batsman in the team. Rumours suggest that Chennai Super Kings might be looking to replace Dhoni with the young 25-year-old N. Jagadeesan.

Jagadeesan made his debut for CSK in 2020 season in UAE where he got to play 5 games and scored 33 runs, with a top score of 33 itself. The opening batsman from Coimbatore has scored 702 runs in the 35 T20 matches at a strike rate of 125.35 and at an average of 35.10.

The Super Kings will next face Punjab Kings(formerly Kings XI Punjab) on 16th April. They sit at the bottom of the table with a net run rate of -0.799.
