Jitu Rai wins gold in men's 10m air pistol at Gold Coast CWG 2018

Indian shooters continued to bring glory to the country as Jitu Rai wins gold in men’s 10m air pistol at Gold Coast CWG 2018. Other Indian in contention was Om Prakash Mitharwal who narrowly missed on a silver and had to settle for bronze medal on Monday.

Rai shot a total of 235.1 and set a new games record, after qualifying for the final in the fifth position. Mitharval on his debut at CWG, qualified for the final equaling the CWG qualification record, and shot a total of 214.3. Australia’s Kerry Bell won silver with a total score of 233.5.

Earlier on Sunday, 16-year-old Manu Bhaker and seasoned campaigner Heena Sidhu clinched gold and silver in the women’s 10m Air Pistol final, while Ravi Kumar bagged a bronze medal in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle final on Day four of the quadrennial event.

This is the 5th medal for India in shooting and 15th overall.
