Both teams have already qualified for the pre-quarters and will either play Portugal, Spain or Iran in the next round depending on final match results in Group B.
The Atletico Madrid centre-half “will not be taken into account for the match… against Russia,” the Uruguayan Football Association said in a statement. The match takes place on Monday in Samara.
Uruguay registered a 1-0 win over Egypt in their first match courtesy of a 89′ minute goal by Jose Maria Gimenez. They defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in their second clash courtesy of a goal by Luis Suarez in 23′ minute.
