Kings XI Punjab has announced their captain for IPL Season 11. The franchise has put a dead end to all the speculations and named Ravichandran Ashwin as their new captain in IPL 11. Chris Gayle, R Ashwin, Yuvraj Singh and Aaron Finch were the top contenders for the role, but team management choosed Ashwin over everyone.

Ashwin will make a comeback in IPL 11 after suffering from an injury in season 10, following a gruelling test series with Australia at home. He was a prominent member of Chennai Super Kings from 2008-2015, after which he joined Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016, following the suspenion of CSK.
The big revelation was made by Virender Sehwag in Facebook live session. He said ““There was also talk in the management about making Yuvraj captain. Yuvraj is a great friend, but in cricketing matters, you keep friendships aside and we all felt Ashwin will be a great leader for us,”
Ashwin was bought by Punjab for a whopping 7.6 crore after an intense bidding war.
Kings XI Punjab had a fairytale run in 2014 season of the IPL, where they lost in the finals to KKR. However the team has not made a mark in any of the seasons. The team management has trusted more on foreign players for the role of captaincy, however now with Ashwin playing the lead role, the fortunes of the franchise might just turn away.
