Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is happy that Virat Kohli did not end up playing county cricket in order to be well prepared for the England tour.
“Kohli is a fantastic player. He will do well this time. I am happy that he did not play county cricket before the England series. I think he was eager to play county (ahead of the series) because he was panicky after not having a good tour last time around. He is too good a player to miss out this time,” Ganguly told PTI as reported by Times of India.
Kohli missed on a county stint with Surrey following a neck injury that he caught during the IPL season 11.
Kohli has said that playing county could be a blessing in disguise as a break from the game has refreshed him completely.
Ganguly thinks that India and Kohli will do good in England but justified that the English team is also looking dangerous after they piled a score of 481 runs against Australia in 4th ODI.
