Rohit Sharma was a talented batsman who didn’t do justice to his talent before the 2013 Champions trophy in England but a revolutionary idea of sending him open the batting in 2013 Champions trophy turned out to be a career changing decision for him. Since then, Rohit has been a different player who has went onto be the spine of the Indian team. He has become the first player to score three double hundreds in International cricket and is hungry for more.
Michael Clarke terms Rohit Sharma as world’s best opener
The 2015 world cup winning Australian captain feels that Rohit Sharma is the number one opener in the 50-over format and added that he is as destructive as Virat Kohli.
“He is batting unbelievably well. There was so much talk about his form coming into the world cup. He probably didn’t had the greatest of IPL, which we have seen in regards to his personal batting. But again he showed how important his leadership is and that is underrated too. He is vice captain of this team(India), i love the fact that in his first opportunity to stand up for India and yesterday(in the game against Pakistan) he was in unbelievable form,” Clarke told India Today.
“I probably feel, there is no doubt in my opinion that he is number one opener in ODIs in the world and he is as destructive as Virat. So that is the one advantage the Indian team has. Alot of people just talk about Virat but its not just Virat but Rohit Sharma at the top of the order can score big hundreds,” he added.
Rohit Sharma has been in sensational form with the bat for the country and has amassed 319 runs in three games. He also became the second Indian after Virat Kohli to score a hundred against Pakistan.
