Former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson has announced his retirement from Big Bash League. The left arm pacer will continue to play for other leagues in the world. The tournament will now feature 14 games in a season like the IPL, on which his manager Sam Halvorsen said “is just too much for someone who turns 37 at the end of the summer.”
Johnson was instrumental in guiding Perth Scorchers to the title in 2016-17 season. He has claimed 20 wickets for Scorchers in two seasons with an average of 22.75.
There was no confirmation on his availability to play in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Ruders but he will feature in the T10 league in UAE, scheduled in December.
