England pipped India by 31 runs to stay alive in pursuit to a semi final berth in the ongoing world cup. Earlier in the game, England reached 337/7 at the end of 50 overs courtesy Jonny Bairstow’s impressive innings of 111 runs, well complimented by Jason Roy(66), Ben Stokes(79). Mohammed Shami yet again shined for India with the ball by picking up 4 wickets in the game.
Chasing a mammoth target, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gave a ray of hope to the Indian fans by putting up a 138 run stand for the second wicket but it was all England after the fall of their wicket. Too much was left for Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni in the death overs and as a result, India lost by 31 runs.
However, Dhoni’s slow innings was criticized by the fans and they asked Virat Kohli to include Dinesh Karthik in place of Dhoni for the next game. Dhoni played a slow innings against West Indies but it later turned out to be a match winning knock considering the context of the pitch but his legacy of striking the ball to a farther distance has made the fans go greedy for more.
Dhoni wins the heart again
The 37-year-old scored 41 runs off 32 balls but his intent was questioned in the game against England. Dhoni was hit in the thumb by a quick delivery bowled by Jofra Archer which went unnoticed by the fans. He didn’t expressed the pain and kept quiet which was later realized by the fans that he played with a injured thumb.
Pictures of Dhoni sucking his thumb and spitting blood went viral on internet. Now instead of trolling him, fans are praising his dedication.
