MS Dhoni to watch third test between India and South Africa in Ranchi

India is in firm grip of the second test match against South Africa that is underway at MCA stadium in Pune. However, things have started to hype up for the third test in Ranchi as MS Dhoni is expected to be at the venue.

JSCA Vice President Ajay Nath Shahdeo said that the ardent cricket fans will be allowed to watch the practise session of the players but they will need a written permission for it. “We will allow cricket lovers to watch the practice sessions provided formal and written requests are made in advance. Also, those allowed for watching the practice session would have to remain in the demarcated areas only,” Shahdeo said as quoted by Telegraph India.

When asked about MS Dhoni’s presence in the match, Shahdeo didn’t say anything but close sources have confirmed that Dhoni might make his presence felt during the course of the test match. “I have information that Dhoni has consented to watch the game,” a source in JSCA said as quoted.

Dhoni’s cricketing career

MS Dhoni last featured for the national team in the 2019 World Cup semi-final where India lost to New Zealand in a fierce encounter, where and Dhoni almost pulled off a win from the jaws of defeat. The veteran of 350 ODIs was expected to retire but reports suggest that he postponed his plans on the advice of Virat Kohli.

He was expected to return for the South Africa T20 series but he again made himself unavailable for selection. Fans were expecting to see him return for the Bangladesh series but they again faced a setback after he opted out of selection. A report in Indian Express suggests that the veteran wicket keeper batsman is suffering from a back injury, which is the reason for his ouster from the national team.

He is now expected to return for the ODI series against West Indies, which starts in December.
