MS Dhoni was last seen in the world cup semi final where India lost to New Zealand to bow out of the world cup. Rumours were rife that the veteran will finally hang up his boots but reports suggested that the Ranchi lad didn’t retire on the advise of Virat Kohli.
He made himself unavailable for West Indies limited overs series which gave an opportunity to under firing Rishabh Pant. He was expected to return back for South Africa T20 series but he made himself unavailable for selection. To make it more worse for his fans, he also made himself unavailable for Bangladesh limited overs series.
Rishabh Pant on the other hand has failed to make his presence count. He has not been that prolific for which he is known for especially in IPL. With the ray of low scores, the clock has started ticking for the Delhi lad and the selectors may look to Ishan Kishan or Sanju Samson in the future.
MS Dhoni wants BCCI to prepare Rishabh Pant- DNA reports
According to a report published in DNA, the veteran of 350 ODIs has given time to BCCI to prepare Rishabh Pant for 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia. Dhoni may make himself available for the ODI series against West Indies which starts in December, but it will be interesting to see if selectors will give him a place in the team despite knowing that he is not in their future plans.
Digitalsporty understand that Rishabh Pant will be the number one keeper for India in T20 World Cup but what lies next for MS Dhoni, comes as the biggest question. It is expected that he will not remain till 2023 World Cup and playing the 50-over format will cut down the chances of Pant and opportunity to gain more experience.
