Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat signs up with Canada’s Lee Baxter Promotions for a span of two years and is expected to fight his next professional bout in Canada which will take place on June 26. Goyat is the reigning WBC Asia-Pacific welterweight champion and his opponent and title for which he would fight will be known subsequent to May 19.
The Indian boxer has won nine of his 13 professional bouts.
“I cannot reveal the financial details of the contract but it is a good deal that I have got, i guess I am the first Indian boxer to sign up with a Canadian promoter, i hope it will take my professional career in the right direction,” Neeraj told PTI as reported by Times of India.
“I would be fighting for a title on June 26 but the formalities are still being worked out and my opponent’s name will be out in the second half of this month,” he added.
The 26-year-old from Haryana last competed in August last year where he successfully defended his WBC title against Allan Tanada of Philippines in a unanimous verdict.
Neeraj was earlier signed to IOS boxing promoters.
