Six-year old “Nivaan Khandhadia has become the youngest rated chess player in India. Nivaan, is currently world ranked No 10, with a rating of 1137 ELO Points, according to the May 2018 FIDE rating list released by the World Chess Federation on Tuesday.

He had participated in the recently concluded World School Chess Championship held in Albania. He finished on a positive note as he scored four points from nine rounds in the Under-7 category. However, he is determined to win the title the next season, a media release said.
Khandhadia trains under coach Vishwanath Sandilya at the South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA), the release added.
India have produced some of the bright talents in Chess, but they have not earned the name like Vishwanathan Anand has earned on world stage. Nivaan, who has shown his masterclass at such a minor age, promises to be the next big thing in Indian Chess.
