India will look to extend their medals tally to surpass the tally of Tokyo Olympic games where they won 7 medals. After an inspirational win in the bronze medal match against Spain, Indian hockey team won two back to back Olympic medals after 1972 Olympics to create history. Indian hockey last won an Olympic medal in 1980 and since then their decline in performance meant no podium finish until 2020 Tokyo Games.
Carrying the momentum from the day, Indian athletes will look to add more medals in the kitty on 9 August.
