The Kolkata Police has started a case against Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including 498A, which amounts to cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives. The actions were taken after his Hasin Jahan lodged a police complaint against him and his family members at a Kolkata police station. Previously on Wednesday, in a series of posts on Facebook and WhatsApp chats, Jahan accused Shami of cheating on her. She also alleged that the UP born pacer took money from a Pakistani woman named Alishba under the influence of England-based businessman Mohammed Bhai. “If Mohammed Shami can cheat me then he can cheat the country as well. He accepted money from a Pakistani girl named Alisbah in Dubai. He agreed to accept it after the insistence of England-based Mohammed Bhai. I have proof,” she was quoted saying to ABP.

Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police Praveen Tripathi said that the case against Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been recorded at Kolkata’s Jadhavpur Police Station on the basis of a written complaint by Hasin Jaha on thursday.

The other charges against Shami are under Section 307(attempt to murder), Section 323(punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), Section 376 (rape), Section 506(criminal intimidation). Four other family members of the paceman have also been named in the complaint by the police.
