4th T20 of Nidahas trophy 2018: India looks to bounce back against Lanka

The ongoing Nidahas trophy is in a tricky position with all the three teams tied at 2 points each after playing 2 matches. India faced a shocking defeat to Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the 1st match, and the Island nation kickstarted their celebration of 70th Independence year on a good note. The Rohit Sharma led team however defeated Bangladesh in their second match to keep the hopes alive. Bangladesh bounced back in style as they chased down a mammoth target of 215 and defeated Sri Lanka in the third match to take the series to a tricky situation.

Sri Lanka has played 16 T20’s at Colombo, winnings on 3 occasions and loosing on 13 occasions.

India’s biggest worry is the form of their captain Rohit Sharma who had a poor outing in South Africa and didn’t impress in the 1st T20. He will eye a comeback to give India a solid foundation at the start of the innings.

India has played 9 T20’s at Colombo, winning on 7 occasions and loosing on 2 occasions.

Shikhar Dhawan on the other hand has been outstanding, scoring 90 and 55 in the two matches, as he continued from where he left off in South Africa. His scores in the last 10 matches are 55, 90, 47, 24, 72, 18, 34, 109, 76, 51.

Rishabh Pant has not played to his potential and may give room for the selection of KL Rahul at number 3. Rahul can play a crucial role in batting order and can also keep the wickets.

Suresh Raina on the other hand will look to get consistent with his performance to cement the place in national team. India will depend on Manish Pandey and Dinesh Karthik in the middle order.

R Premadasa stadium in Colombo will again be a batsman paradise and few variations by Jaydev Unadkat may prove more than handy. Lot of expectations are also from Shardul Thakur and Vijay Shankar who kept their line and length tights in the 2nd match after getting hit in the 1st match.

Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal will play a key role in the middle overs.

Sri Lanka will depend on Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis to do the job for the Lankans in the absence of their captain Dinesh Chandimal, who is facing a two match ban for over rate offence. Upul Tharanga may play the role of an anchor in the batting department. Stand in captain Thisara Perera will play a key role in blasting with bat in the death overs.
