Prostitute Scandal hits Asian Games, four Japanese athlete busted

In  a shameful controversy at Asian Games, Four of the Japanese basketball players have been sent back to home after they were alleged of paying prostitutes for the sexual favours, the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) said Monday.

Caught in red light district

The JOC confirmed that those four basketball players were spotted in a red light district of capital city of Jakarta in their national jerseys last week.

Four of those players are said to be leaving the games village after having their dinner last week and are accused of going to a hotel with women.

The four alleged player are named as Yuya Nagayoshi, Takuya Hashimoto, Takuma Sato and Keita Imamura.

“I just feel a sense of shame. We deeply apologise and intend to give the athletes thorough guidance from now on,” Japan’s chef de mission Yasuhiro Yamashita told reporters.

“I would like to humbly apologise to the Japanese public, the JOC and everyone who supports basketball for this deplorable incident,” Japan basketball chief Yuko Mitsuya said in a statement.

“We will decide on the appropriate punishment for the four players once we have heard all the facts. We need to work harder to make sure this kind of scandal does not happen again,” he added.

This is not the case of first sexual charges in a quadrennial sporting event. Earlier at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, a Mauritian official was accused of sexually assaulting a female
