World number 5- PV Sindhu was the only Indian to feature in the list of highest paid female athletes in the world. The 24-year-old from Hyderabad is at the 13th spot in the list. American tennis star and 23 times grand slam champion- Serena Williams, take the number one spot in the list. She has a total earnings of USD 29.2 million.
2018 US Open champions- Naomi Osaka takes the number second spot. The Japanese star has a total earnings of USD 24.3 million. Angelique Kerber takes the number three spot with an earnings of USD 11.8 million.
Simona Halep(USD $10.2 million) takes the number spot and is followed by fellow tennis players- Sloane Stephens(USD $9.6 million), Caroline Wozniacki(USD $7.5 million), Maria Sharapova(USD $7 million), Karolina Pliskova(USD $6.3 million), Elina Svitolina(USD $6.1 million). The 10th spot is tied between Venus Williams(USD $5.9 million) and Garbiñe Muguruza(USD $5.9 million)
American football star- Alex Morgan takes the number 12 spot with earnings of USD $5.8 million. PV Sindhu shares the 13th spot with total earnings of 5.5 million dollars and she is tied with American tennis star Madison Keys. “Sindhu remains India’s most marketable female athlete. The badminton star has endorsements with Bridgestone, JBL, Gatorade, Panasonic and more. She became the first Indian to win the season-ending BWF World Tour finals in 2018,” Forbes said in a statement.
She currently endorses Bridgestone, JBL, Gatorade, Panasonic and is sponsored by Bank of Baroda and Li-Ning. The 2016 Olympic silver medallist will next participate in the upcoming World Championship.
Number 15th spot is taken by Thai golfer- Ariya Jutanugarn with an earning of USD $5.3 million.
